oDocs Introduce Slip Lamp and Retinal Camera Devices for Smartphones

New Zealand-based social enterprise oDocs Eye Care has launched a set of smartphone-based devices that allow healthcare providers to take photos of the retina.

When attached to an iPhone, the smartphone retinal imaging adapter called the visoScope reportedly converts the phone into a retinal camera. Additionally, oDocs have launched a smartphone slit lamp microscope called visoClip.

According to oDocs, the company has promised to keep the inventions open-source to ensure the products remain affordable and accessible. Additionally, for every item sold oDocs donates 10 percent of the profit to a sight-related charity.

Earlier this month, the New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards named oDocs as New Zealand’s Most Innovative Mobile Technology company.
