OptometryWeb is an informative, educational and dynamic online community space
for eye care physicians from each of the subspecialties to connect, learn and enhance
their knowledge base and practice. Here you will find peer-driven, subspecialty
specific content including articles, news, forums, videos, product information and
more. We have designed our site so that it is easy to navigate, allowing users to
access the desired information as easily (fewest clicks) as possible.
General Navigation
For the best results, visit the
home page,
and select your subspecialty from the top navigation. When you get to your subspecialty
page, book mark it so that you can return to this page easily. Subspecialties will
be added until OptometryWeb covers the entire field of eye care, so please
check back regularly.
Registration and Newsletters
Registering with OptometryWeb will give you access to our Forums, Newsletters,
Product Alerts, Quick Quiz updates and to pre-filled information requests from our
product directory. Registering with OptometryWeb will also allow you to leave comments for articles and features throughout our site. To register, click the Register button on the top of this page. To update your information, or to choose or opt out of newsletters, please click the Login button on the top of this page.
Submitting Editorial
We are eager to hear from practicing ophthalmologists who would like to submit editorial
such as case studies, or practice management tips for any of the subspecialties. To submit your ideas, see our Write For Us page.
Using the Product Center
Selecting a Category
To begin, choose an area of interest on and click on the highlighted text with the
cursor. This will bring you to a page that contains listings for commonly used products
in that particular area of practice. Once the secondary page has come up, choose
a particular product you are interested in and click it. This will bring you to
a matrix that contains all the pertinent information that you will need to make
an informed decision about that product.
The Matrix
The top row of the matrix consists of a series of column headers that describe the
information within the table. The left most column (running vertically) is the Select
column. By selecting products within the matrix that you are interested in, you
can view only the selected products side-by-side by simply hitting the Compare button
located at the top and bottom of the matrix.
To get more information on the product, or to see a picture of the product etc.,
simply click on the Vendor Product Page link, or the Buy Now button (if any). This
will open up a new window in your browser that will take you directly to the manufacturer's
web site. There you will be able to get more information on the product and in some
cases (but not all) buy the product directly from the manufacturer.
To receive information on a product or service simply click on the Request Information
button and fill out the fields. To receive a quote on a product or receive additional
information simply click on the Request Quote button and fill out the fields (if
they are not pre-filled) and hit submit.
Search
If you are interested in a specific product and you are not exactly sure where it
would be listed in OptometryWeb, simply type in the product name in the search
box that is located in the header for each page. This will bring up a list of links,
one of which will be the one you are interested in. If your entry cannot be found
you will be brought another page where a more robust search engine is in place.
