Essilor has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire MyOptique Group Ltd. — a European online prescription glasses, contact lenses and sunglasses business.
According to a press release issued by Essilor, the transaction is in-line with its mission to "improve lives by improving sight" as it will help facilitate access to optical products that improve visual health. Additionally, the acquisition will reportedly allow Essilor to broaden its online footprint in Central Europe and enhance its capabilities in successful multi-category, multi-brand models.
MyOptique Groups is based in the U.K. and had a reported revenue of £57 million in revenue in the year ending April 30, 2016.
