Are You Ready for National Sunglasses Day?

Tomorrow, June 27th, is National Sunglasses Day, and The Vision Council has lots of resources to help you get ready to celebrate with your patients.

This is reportedly the fourth consecutive year The Vision Council is promoting the importance of UV-protective eyewear with National Sunglasses Day. The purpose of the day is to remind consumers that wearing sunglasses is not only fashionable, but also a health necessity to protect the eyes from long- and short-term damage from the sun's UV rays.

Based on the success of last year's campaign, The Vision Council will reportedly be using social media to reach consumers, as well as key entertainment, fashion, health and lifestyle consumer media outlets and influencers, leveraging the official hashtags #NationalSunglassesDay and #SunglassSelfie.

The Vision Council has reportedly landed two regional broadcast segments on “Let’s Talk Live DC” and “CT Style” to air on June 27, featuring Dr. Justin Bazan spreading the word about National Sunglasses Day and the importance of UV eye protection. And new this year, The Vision Council plans to broadcast a series of interviews on June 27th with Marie Claire senior fashion editor and “E! News” fashion correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi as the official spokesperson for National Sunglasses Day.

For eyecare practices looking to promote National Sunglasses Day to their patients and community, The Vision Council has a variety of resources available on NationalSunglassesDay.com, including social media images, Web banners, printable posters and sunglass display ideas.
