Seattle optometrist and Pacific University College of Optometry alumnus Dr. Edward "Larry" Jones was recently awarded the university's 2017 Kamelia Massih Prize for a Distinguished Optometrist for making a significant impact in the optometric profession by serving his community with distinction.
In addition to running his practice in Seattle, Jones was reportedly an active member of the National Optometric Association (NOA) for more than 30 years, including 12 years on its executive board, and also helped build the Pacific student chapter of the NOA.
In his community, Jones has reportedly worked with the Washington Legislature to promote better vision screening protocols and provide vision services to young offenders. He also helped run the annual run/walk fundraiser for the College of Optometry, and donates both his time and resources to help his community's homeless.
