Contamac Ltd. recently announced Blanchard Contact Lenses and GP Specialists are now offering the Tangible Hydra-PEG™ coating on lens designs from Contamac’s Optimum™ line of GP materials.
According to Contamac, both Blanchard Contact Lens and GP Specialists now offer Tangible Hydra-PEG™ on their designs made in the Optimum™ Comfort (Dk 60), Extra (Dk 100), and Extreme (Dk 125) materials. Tangible Hydra-PEG is reportedly a novel contact lens coating technology that encapsulates the Optimum GP material in an ultra-thin layer of a PEG-based polymer (polyethylene gylcol), creating a lens surface that is extremely lubricous and wettable.

Saffron Walden, UK, May 8th, 2017 - Contamac Ltd, manufacturer of the Optimum™ line of GP materials, announces two additional specialty contact lens laboratories offering the Tangible Hydra-PEG™ coating on their lens designs. Blanchard Contact Lens and GP Specialists now offer Tangible Hydra-PEG™ on their designs made in the Optimum Comfort (Dk 60), Extra (Dk 100), and Extreme (Dk 125) materials.
Tangible Hydra-PEG™ is a novel contact lens coating technology that encapsulates the Optimum GP material in an ultra thin layer of a PEG-based polymer (polyethylene gylcol), creating a lens surface that is extremely lubricous and wettable, with increased surface water retention due to the high water content (90%) of the PEG-based polymer.
