HOYA Vision Care Launches Next Generation of Personalized Lens Technology
iD MyStyle 2 to Replace Original Revolutionary iD MyStyle
LEWISVILLE, TEXAS, (May 1, 2017) Ally of the Independent eye care professional, HOYA Vision Care announced today the U.S. launch of iD MyStyle 2. The original revolutionary iD MyStyle was the first to use HOYA’s patented Integrated Double Surface Design (IDSD) technology as well as to incorporate patient lifestyle parameters in the design of the lens.
The second generation, iD MyStyle 2, builds on its revolutionary platform with the addition of unlimited design variations, Binocular Harmonization TechnologyTM (BHT) and lens design verification to ensure patients get what they need every time.
“It is always our goal to ensure independent practices have the opportunity to differentiate themselves with science, innovation and technology in our increasingly competitive market. The original revolutionary iD MyStyle design was launched though independent practices and now iD MyStyle 2 with Binocular Harmonization Technology will again take independents to the next level. Just like Apple isn’t selling iPhone 2s anymore, we are moving forward as well,” said Barney Dougher, President of HOYA Vision Care, North America. He continued, “The practices that have been successful with the original iD MyStyle design will appreciate the advances made in the iD MyStyle 2 design and their patients will have a “wow!” experience.”
There are three key things to know about the iD MyStyle 2 design. First, the design understands that every patient is unique. A total analysis of patient needs and lifestyle, history – including previous lens design worn, and position of wear measurements are factored into each iD Mystyle 2 prescription.
Second, is HOYA’s implementation of patented Binocular Harmonization TechnologyTM (BHT) which is the very first binocular lens solution. How BHT works is the right and left prescription are treated as individual components to define the required binocular lens design and then the necessary corridor length and progressive power distribution are calculated. Patented algorithms and free form processing technology are implemented to achieve the finished product.
The patient benefit is most pronounced for those with Anisometropia, a difference in prescription between the right and left eye, which affects 73% of the population. The iD MyStyle 2 lens design with BHT ensures that both eyes receive equal accommodative support, according to the needs of each eye to achieve optimal binocularity which will practically eliminate non-adapts.
And third is design verification. Every iD MyStyle 2 prescription is verified before it is made with our patented Binocular Eye Model and 3D visual acuity simulation. We test and verify the lenses before you do to ensure your patients’ lenses are exactly what they need.
“The advances made with iD MyStyle 2 are very exciting,” said Dr. Thomas Gosling, owner of a private practice in Colorado and member of HOYA’s advisory panel, he continued, “Something I really appreciate that HOYA does is they recognize the role of the brain in how we see. Binocular Harmonization Technology makes so much sense and it allows the brain to have an easier time processing the information transmitted through the eyes. That difference in the technology alone vastly improves comfort, adaptation rates and my patients can really feel the difference.”
iD MyStyle 2 is available to order. The launch will take place primarily through practices that have previously been successful with the original iD MyStyle design which will be retired later this year.
