NECO Hosts Chinese Optometry Students for Global Health Leadership Development Program

Last month, the New England College of Optometry (NECO) hosted 10 students from Wenzhou Medical University in China as part of the second annual Global Health Leadership Development program (GHLDP).

The GHLDP was reportedly started in 2015 to allow optometry and ophthalmology students from China to learn about the state of optometry around the world, as well as American culture and its influence on the American healthcare system. During the program, students attend programming at NECO for two weeks before traveling to the SUNY College of Optometry for another two weeks of optometric education.

During this year's program, visiting students observed special clinics, community health centers, optometry practices and hospitals, and also participated in special lectures and research poster presentations.
