Digital Eye Lab Adds New Product to Its bluDEFENSE Comfort Portfolio
New Lens Materials Feature Blue-Light Control Technology and Minimal Color Distortion
HAWTHORNE, N.Y. (July 13, 2016) – Digital Eye Lab (DEL), a division of ABB OPTICAL GROUP, announced the expansion of its bluDEFENSE portfolio with the addition of new bluDEFENSE Lens Materials.
The new product features blue-light control technology built into the lens monomer, allowing beneficial blue-turquoise light to pass through the lens while absorbing and filtering damaging blue-violet light and preventing it from reaching the eye. The technology blocks 100 percent of harmful blue light at 420 nanometers.
Minimal color distortion is a key benefit of bluDEFENSE Lens Materials, which appears clear. Available in four different lens materials -- polycarbonate, 1.60, 1.67 and 1.74 -- the bluDEFENSE Lens Materials can be used in almost any lens design.
In addition to the new lens materials, DEL will continue offering its CLARIS bluDEFENSE Anti-Reflective Coating, which protects eyes by reflecting harmful blue-violet and ultra-violet light and allowing only beneficial light to pass through the lens. The AR coating maintains the transparency of the lens and reduces scatter and glare for better vision and clarity.
Both product lines, which are part of DEL's bluDEFENSE Comfort Portfolio, improve patients' overall comfort by reducing digital eye strain.
According to the Vision Council's 2016 Digital Eye Strain Report, 65 percent of Americans experience digital eye strain symptoms such as blurred vision, eye fatigue, neck and back pain, headaches, and dry, irritated eyes. Findings of the report also show that nearly 90 percent of Americans use digital devices for two or more hours each day, a leading contributor of digital eye strain.
“We are excited to expand the bluDEFENSE product portfolio,” said Scott Pearl, managing director of Digital Eye Lab. “With flexible solutions for digital eye strain discomfort, the bluDEFENSE Comfort Portfolio provides our customers with greater visual comfort lens options for their patients.”
