Adaptica, the Padova, Italy based leading manufacturer of optical and opto-electronic devices and innovative eye-care instruments, will launch its VisionFit Wearable Adaptive Refractor at the upcoming European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) meeting taking place at the Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, Spain, from 5-9 September, 2015.
The VisionFit is a truly innovative, electronic, tunable, solid state, mobile and wearable system of adaptive lenses that performs a subjective sight examination, and replaces the need for trial glasses and the manual/electronic phoropter. By using the VisionFit in combination with Adaptica’s 2WIN binocular handheld refractometer and vision analyzer, the operator is able to perform an objective and subjective refraction examination in only a few minutes, with maximum mobility and flexibility.
Revolutionizing Subjective Refraction
The VisionFit includes a computer integrated control unit featuring a display screen, keyboard controller, commands and connectivity capabilities, and a wearable electronic trial frame with two tunable lens sets, each composed of three adaptive lenses (spherical, cylindrical and aberration) with add-on lens support. All three lenses are adaptive and are controlled electronically. The aberration adaptive lens corrects undesired aberrations and/or stimulates a calculated aberration (spherical, coma and trefoil components) as measured by wave-front analyzers.
VisionFit Benefits
Wearing the VisionFit electronic trial frame as they would a regular trial frame, the patient looks at the eye chart or any other near or far target in any environment, either sitting or standing, thus allowing subjective refraction to be performed with the patient in his/her usual working environment and posture. Thanks to VisionFit lens technology, the patient can also move around without disturbing refractometry. The VisionFit also allows subjective refraction to be performed in association with other biomedical devices (e.g., stabilometric platform) and with other devices in use by the patient.
