The Frame Update — January 19, 2017

A&A Optical

A&A Optical recently announced the release of three new ophthalmic and three new sun styles from Jimmy Crystal New York™. Each style is unique, featuring hand-set Swarovski® crystals. For the ophthalmic releases, the round Amalfi with color-blocked temples dazzles in rich brown (with topaz and golden crystals) and navy (with sapphire and silver crystals), while the semi-rimless Ibiza features a brooch design element with metal and crystal accents. And for sunwear, the round JCS125 shimmers in black and magenta tortoise and a crystal pattern of oval, trapezoid and round cut stones on the upper temples, while JCS200 (pictured right) is a kaleidoscope of gradient crystals available in black, emerald and magenta tortoise.

Barberini EyewearBarberini Eyewear

From Barberini Eyewear's new 2017 collection with shades inspired by the reflections of the sky — which will be previewed at Opti Munich 2017 later this month — is the special edition model Voyager (pictured left). Created in Platinum Glass™ and provided with rare Earth elements and UV400 protection, the new style is presented with a leather cord and leather trim in a "total black" version.

BlackfinBlackfin

The feather-weight, sinuous nature of titanium is the hallmark of the new Spring/Summer 2017 collection from Blackfin, which will be previewed at Opti Munch 2017 later this month. A standout from the new collection is the women's optical style BF7871 Doran (pictured right) featuring clear-cut square lines. The ample outline of the front is emphasized by the 3D finish of the top rim, which is elongated on the outer corners for an elegant cat-eye look. And all Blackfin frames are made of titanium and beta-titanium with patented Swordfish temple tips, whose break-off guides make it possible to shorten the temples in three simple moves.

ClassiqueClassique Eyewear

Classique Eyewear recently introduced the latest addition to its eyewear portfolio, GIOS Italia (pictured left) — a new eyewear collection made in Italy that embodies the spirt of Italy and encapsulates authentic Italian craftsmanship, elegant styling and fashion chic. The new collection features frames made from quality materials such as titanium and Mazzucchelli acetates in rich color hues, constructed with specialty hardware components skillfully fabricated into each frame design.

ClearVisionClearVision Optical

ClearVision Optical recently announced its most advanced technology product to date with a new collection of eyewear featuring the PogoTrack™ wearable technology platform (pictured right). Initially launching out the company's Ocean Pacific Collection, this advanced product is the result of a partnership between ClearVision and technology firm PogoTec. Eyewear with PogoTrack is designed to serve as a universal platform for a wide range of future electronic wearable devices, the first being PogoCam™, the world’s smallest wearable camera that attaches to fashionable eyewear. Future wearables for the platform may include an alertness monitor to prevent drivers from falling asleep and a UV meter to prevent sunburn by alerting users when exposed to damaging rays. The fashionable eyewear collection features six optical and six sunwear styles for men and women.

ImageWear recently debuted 10 new titanium and stainless steel styles in its premium collection, Stepper Eyewear. The three new styles in the Stainless Steel Collection include frame 10052 STS with a soft rectangle shape, 10053 STS with an over-sized deep shape, and the square-shaped 10078 STS that fits from the bridge out. And the seven new styles in the Titanium Collection include the unisex 20047 SI (pictured left) with metal temples and wraparound end piece; the trendsetting 20050 SI with a large round shape; and the smaller fitting rectangle 60117 SI made in titanium metal and created for all mankind. Other new styles include the almost weightless 30087 SI; 30092 SI with face coloring on the front for a unique look; women's rimless titanium metal 50137 SI; and 50147 SI with a timeless women's shape made in titanium metal for a lightweight and hypoallergenic fit.

KenmarkKenmark Eyewear

Kenmark Eyewear recently introduced new sunglasses for both its Vera Wang Luxe and Vera Wang Core collections. The Luxe collection debuted six new styles, such as the modern round combo style Akira adorned with Swarovski crystals on the top and bottom of the metal temple, and the Kalea romantic glam combination style with a metal front profile. Mayir is a cat-eye embellished with four round Swarovski crystals on the temples, while Clarette (pictured right) is a soft rectangular full zyl available in Black, Dove, Sky and Tortoise. Lumen is a modern square full zyl with Swarovski crystals on the temples, and Amarilla is a modern zyl square available in Black, Ocean and Gold.

And there are also six new styles of sunwear for the Vera Wang Core collection. V456 is a full modern square zyl with a carved-away brow and color-blocked temples, while V462 is a club-inspired modern oval combo frame with an acetate brow. V461 is a modern oval full rim combo frame available in Black, Cranberry, Dove and Tortoise, and V460 is a full zyl modern oval featuring rich acetates. V458 is a combo style with a layered metal brow and transparent motto colors, while V465 is a preppy full zyl modern square with softer mirrored lenses.

MarcolinMarcolin

New from Marcolin is new Swarovski Eyewear Collection (pictured left), featuring both sunglasses and eyeglasses that celebrate the world of Swarovski jewelry with brilliant detailing and on-trend design. Frame shapes vary from round to wide cat-eye to decidedly square, with classic hues and trendy colors such as plum, ivory, purple and pink. All sunglasses feature elegant temples embellished with precious details such as "Fancy Raindrops" and "Stardust," while all eyewear styles also celebrate their common Swarovski element with combinations of crystals in different shapes and hues, sparkling trims, and original dynamic patterns.

Marcolin also recently introduced its new Spring/Summer 2017 eyewear collection for Tom Ford, featuring clean lines and vintage-inspired silhouettes reworked in striking new ways, as well as to introduce a new styling of the iconic "T" logo. In addition to finely-crafted acetate frames, the collection focuses on precious metals, including rare and sought-after Japanese titanium. Other special features include flat and cutaway lenses and green Barberini glass lenses made exclusively for the brand. Highlights include the FT0536 oversized aviator sunwear frame with real leather on the bridge; the extravagant FT5435 optical frame offered in shades of clear fuchsia and clear champagne; and the FT0500 men's sunwear frame available in new lighter shades of shiny gray with blue lenses and shiny honey with green Barberini lenses.

MYKITAMYKITA

MYKITA and designer Tim Coppens recently joined creative forces in design of their first collaboration frame, Tequila (pictured right) — a sunglass model, which made its debut earlier this month at the Tim Coppens Fall/Winter 2017 show at Pitti Uomo in Florence. Made from 3D printing technology, the unisex frame sees a Nineties dirt bike-vibe translated into an uncompromising modern eyewear design. The expansive front with a straight top line and the reduced form of the elongated keyhole bridge brings about a monolithic look, while lenses cut from a curved surface further contribute to the streamlined silhouette.

Nouveau EyewearNouveau Eyewear

This month, Nouveau Eyewear debuts new sporty designs for its athletic Cantera Eyewear collection, combining contemporary shapes and materials with bold colorways for men and women. Curveball (pictured left) is a versatile zyl design with a colorful trim and intricate dotted details on each temple inspired by streaking beads of light. And Fastball is a class geek-chic design with textured temples, available in blue or gray with yellow or electric blue accents.

And Nouveau also launched new styles in its Hot Kiss Eyewear collection for juniors and women, with each style is defined by bold colors and rich textures inspired by Hot Kiss apparel. Style HK64 is a daring delight with rich marbled texturing in deep hues of blue, brown or pink. And HK65 is a retro-cool frame with combine a multicolored tortoise front with silk-smooth temples, available in blue or purple.

Ray-BanRay-Ban

Just in time for festival season, Ray-Ban introduces a new brand icon. The 1960's spirit is reborn in the new Ja-Jo (pictured right), featuring an extra-large round shape in a full metal frame. The sunwear frame is available in gold, silver and copper, that can be paired with one of seven sugary hues of mirrored lenses for a complete bohemian look. And the optical frame is available in classic gold or silver paired with six different colored finishes. 

RETROSUPERFUTURERETROSUPERFUTURE

RETROSUPERFUTURE® is pleased to announce the latest collaborative line of sunglasses created in partnership with Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy. The collaboration features two new silhouettes that embody the unique twist on youth culture that characterize Gosha’s distinctive work. The first model, Super/Gosha Rubchinskiy I (pictured left), is a retro-futuristic design with thick rims and playful round lenses partially encased by acetate. And Super/Gosha Rubchinskiy II is a novel interpretation of 90s style oversized frames borrowed from the underground techno culture, featuring a slender acetate structure counterbalanced by sportswear-inspired arms.

SilhouetteSilhouette

Silhouette's neubau eyewear recently launched three new optical and sunglass styles for January 2017. The cat-eye shaped Mia recalls Hollywood greats like Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn, while the double-bridge models Toni (pictured right) and Joseph are a tongue-in-cheek nod to classic of movie history such as John Goodman in "The Big Lebowski" or Tom Cruise in "Top Gun." All three new styles are produced from lightweight polymer combined with 100 percent hypoallergenic stainless steel, and are available in six signature colors as prescription and sunglasses.

SpySPY

New from SPY is the first signature SPY MX goggle colorway for AMA Supercross winner Cole Seely (pictured left). Available on SPY's premium Omen MX goggle, Seely's new colorway sports his signature CS/14 logo and a color scheme specifically designed by Seely himself — an understated black and graphite color combo with matte mint color accents throughout. The goggles are available with SPY's patent-pending Happy Lens™, feature an anti-fog RISE ventilation system, are shatterproof and offer 100 percent UV protection.

WooDoneWooDone

WooDone recently expanded its product line with the launch of its first ski goggles, SC405 (pictured right). Available starting this month, the new goggles come with two interchangeable mirrored lenses in two different colors — Fumo Arcobaleno and Fumo Grigio. Designed to be compatible with all hard ear snowboard and ski helmets, the goggles feature a horizontal cutout in the upper part of the lens for ventilation and special anti-fog treatment to prevent condensation.

Zyloware recently announced some new launches this month for a number of its brands. The new Sophia Loren Beau Rivage 78 is a full rim metal frame with a recessed earpiece that delicately frames the wearer's face. Ivette by Daisy Fuentes is a full rim metal frame with a trend animal pattern and stone detailing, while Daisy Fuentes Jacinda is a semi-rimless metal frame with an animal print design on the endpieces and temples. And new for Via Spiga, Brigida is available in three unique horn finishes in brown, teal and purple, and Celeste is a full rim zyl frame with a matte finish and shiny gunmetal design.

Leon Max Limited edition 6018 (pictured left) is a full rim zyl frame with a stunning modified round shape packed with details, and Leon Max Limited Edition 6019 is a full rim zyl frame offered in a chunky geometric shape in black/tortoise and marsala/tortoise. New from Shaquille O'Neal are two full rim zyl frames — QD 120Z offers sport-inspired styling and QD 121Z features an on-trend matte front and temple in two statement colors. The new Stetson 336 features a bold design with contemporary styling for the modern-day man. And Randy Jackson is introducing three new styles — the bold and rectangular 1067, stylish round-shaped 1074 and on-trend deep square-shaped 3032.
