eLVT (Electronic Low Vision Testing)

eLVT (Electronic Low Vision Testing)

M&S Technologies, Inc.

  • Description: Over 2 years in development, the eLVT™ system was co-produced and engineered by Dr. Ian Bailey of UC Berkeley and M&S Technologies. It utilizes the Berkeley Rudimentary Low Vision Test and extends the eETDRS protocol to include tumbling E’s, linear sine gratings and black/white discrimination.

Another industry first from M&S, the eLVT™ system eliminates the need to count fingers or detect hand motion for vision assessment and allows the clinician to determine the visual thresholds of low vision patients with accuracy and repeatability. This automated protocol eliminates all subjectivity in determining visual acuity levels, technician bias and interpretation of subject responses. eLVT™ operates seamlessly with any Smart System® product or can be used as a stand-alone product for clinical trials or research and development.

Our Smart System® software is custom written by our own software developers with input from leading practitioners. It provides accurate, consistent and reliable performance to help doctors provide exceptional patient care. The robust design allows for easy upgrades for future enhancements and gives the user the flexibility to quickly change the layout of the remote control, key pad or our new wireless tablet to accommodate specific needs. If you ever need assistance you’ll always speak to a real person, well-trained in every aspect of our software and hardware, whether you purchased a Smart System recently or one of our very first systems in 1991.

Smart System® PC-Plus

Smart System® PC-Plus

M&S Technologies, Inc.

  • Description: The design of the Smart System® PC-Plus was developed by pediatric professionals. Features such as hands-free fixation control allow the doctor to perform a retinoscopy while controlling fixation to maintain the child’s attention. Or the new wireless tablet designed to display what is being projected on the LCD monitor, thereby allowing the doctor to maintain focus on the child.

After careful consideration and the review, Dr. Lea Hyvarinen selected M&S Technologies as the sole provider of the LEA symbols in North America. Unlike copycat symbols or LEA symbol imitators, this industry standard for testing children’s eyes is calibrated, tested and peer reviewed. With no visual clues, the LEA symbols all blur at the same threshold giving the eye care professional the confidence to accurately measure even the most challenged vision.

Our Smart System® software is custom written by our own software developers with input from leading practitioners.
