Torrance, CA- Kowa Optimed is proud to announce that it is to be one of the sponsors of the 2012 American Optometric Association (AOA) EHR Phase II Affiliate Education Program. This symposium looks to not only mirror, but go a step further than the successful first phase where over 4,000 optometrists and optometric staff where reached. In 2012 the program is renewing its focus on educating doctors for their next step. Its goal is to reach more than 20 states with one program designed to ensure that optometry firmly maintains its position as America’s primary eye care profession in a new world of health information technology.
The course reflects strategic goals of the AOA and is designed to educate doctors in the adoption and implementation of EHR in several areas, one being federal regulations and stimulus. Time will be spent covering the EHR Incentive Program with details including requirements, incentives, penalties, and sign- up process. Also meaningful use details, which will include requirements, exemptions, and analysis of compliance reports will be discussed.
The Physician Quality Reporting System and Electronic Prescribing will also have its time on the platform. Two hours will be spent addressing the Physician Quality Reporting System implementation in an office as well as E-Prescribing and the various incentive programs available.
The third point to be elaborated on during the program is EHR implementation. This will allow the opportunity for doctor’s to learn in detail the issues and processes for software implementation by giving concrete and logical steps to follow.
In a society that is forever evolving, the AOA EHR Phase II Affiliate Education Program plays a very important role for keeping doctors up to date with new technologies and procedures making their practice easier for the communities they serve.
