The Southern College of Optometry (SCO) recently opened a new clinic called FocalPoint that is completely paperless and uses a telemedicine platform.
FocalPoint was reportedly developed under the idea of a hybrid clinic that could deliver "care anywhere." As the clinic is completely paperless, patients reportedly digitally check in, manage their records and follow-up with doctors via a telemedicine platform called EyecareLive™.
The new 8,000 square-foot clinic is also reportedly one of 12 locations in the U.S. to offer customizable eyewear through HOYA’s Yuniku system, which uses 3D scanning, parametric design automation, and 3D printing to create eyewear that uniquely fits individual facial characteristics.
