 AOA Announces Olympian Speaker, Emerging Leaders' Experience for Optometry's Meeting 2017

The American Optometric Association (AOA) recently made some announcements for its upcoming Optometry's Meeting® 2017, including an Olympian speaker, platinum album performer, and inaugural AOA+ experience for emerging leaders.

The inaugural AOA+ will reportedly kick off Optometry's Meeting on June 21st, offering 1,500 of the country's brightest students and new doctors a one-of-a-kind experience including a rally on Capitol Hill, Hill Meetings, a New Doctor Panel, and access to the Leadership Link networking and mentoring program.

Also on Wednesday, June 21st, 12-time Olympic medalist Dara Torres will speak at the Opening General Session from 5 to 7:30pm. Torres, considered one of the greatest female competitive swimmers of all-time, will reportedly deliver an inspirational message about pursuing goals, no matter the obstacles in the way.

And on Saturday, June 24, from 7 to 10pm, platinum artist Andy Grammer will perform his chart-topping hits during A Celebration of Optometry. This event that brings Optometry's Meeting to a close will also recognize the 2017-18 AOA and AOSA Board of Trustees.
