 Optometrists Establish Endowed Fund to Support UNM Department of Biology

Optometrists Drs. William Jones and Siu Wong have established a new endowed fund to help support the most urgent needs of The University of New Mexico Department of Biology, including a scholarship and purchasing needed lab and classroom equipment.

The Dr. William Jones & Dr. Siu Wong Biology Urgent Needs Endowed Fund will reportedly provide a scholarship for a full or part-time, graduate or undergraduate, biology student. It will also help defray the cost of purchasing lab or classroom equipment, as well as reportedly help with other expenses such student publications and presentation seminars.

Jones is reportedly a 1969 graduate of UNM and is the founding president of the Optometric Retinal Society. Wong, spouse of Jones, reportedly spent many years as director of the Division of Eye Care for the U.S. Public Health Service — Indian Health Service program.
