HOYA Vision Care recently announced a definitive agreement to acquire the safety prescription eyewear business of 3M.
3M's safety prescription eyewear business reportedly has over 90 years of experience in North America and features a comprehensive line of frames, prescription lenses, and premium coating options in a custom-made solution, serviced by a network of eye care professionals. The business also reportedly provides safety prescription eyewear to Latin America, Europe and Asia.
According to an official statement from HOYA, the company will only acquire the prescription part of 3M's safety eyewear business, employing about 140 people, including an optical laboratory facility in Plymouth, Ind.
