AMERICAN OPTOMETRIC FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 2016-2017 ALLERGAN RESEARCH GRANT RECIPIENT
ORLANDO, FL (November 9, 2016) – The American Optometric Foundation (AOF), in partnership with the Allergan Foundation, is pleased to announce the 2016-2017 recipient of the Allergan Research Grant. The highly competetive grant is awarded to a talented optometrist and/or vision scientist who is an Academy member and is currently undertaking cutting edge research in the areas of glaucoma and/or the anterior segment. This is the third year that the Allergan Foundation has sponsored this generous grant through the AOF.
Congratulations to Stephen A. Burns, PhD, FAAO, professor at Indiana University School of Optometry. He has been awarded a $60,000 grant for his project, “High Resolution, Adaptive Optics Imaging of the Trabecullar Meshwork in Vivo.” Brett J. King, OD, FAAO, Clinical professor and Thomas J. Gast, MD, PhD, (not shown) Senior scientist at Indiana University were co-invetigators on this project.
The American Optometric Foundation is pleased to partner with the Allergan Foundation to recognize individuals whos work will contribute to the future of optometric care. “We congratulate Dr. Burns and his team on his award and cutting edge research that will eventually imrove our patients eye health,” said AOF President David Kirschen, OD, PhD, FAAO.
Dr. Burns and his team will be honored for their achievement at the annual AOF Celebration Luncheon during Academy 2016 Chicago.
