Safilo Using Stratasys 3D Printing to Produce Photorealistic Frames Faster

Eyewear manufacturer Safilo Group is using 3D printing technology from Stratasys Ltd. that allows them to produce photorealistic frames 60% faster than with traditional prototyping methods.

Safilo is reportedly using the Stratasys J750, which is a full-color, multi-material 3D printer reportedly capable of reducing the time it takes to design and prototype frames from 15 hours using a CNC machine and manual finishing to three hours.

According to a case study published on Stratasys' website, using the 3D printing technology also allows Safilo to product multiple variations of frames in the same print job, is helping to accelerate the development of new frames, and opening doors to more creative freedom.
