B+L Joins VOSH-PA to Provide Eye Care in Haiti

Bausch + Lomb (B+L) recently collaborated with nonprofit organization Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity of Pennsylvania (VOSH-PA) to provide free eye exams and treatment to patients in Gonaives, Haiti, this past August.

B+L Vision Care employees reportedly joined volunteer optometrists and an ophthalmologist to perform over 40 sight-saving surgeries and examine close to 2,000 patients. Both adults and children received prescriptions for glasses and were provided medical treatment for diagnoses such as ocular infection and glaucoma.

Also during the trip, the team visited the University of Haiti medical school in Port au Prince to assess the progress of the soon-to-be completed school, which was destroyed in the earthquake over five years ago. The first Optometry School in Haiti will reportedly welcome its first students next year.
