SECO International Sets Date for 94th Annual Congress
ATLANTA – SECO International—widely recognized as the largest optometric education meeting in the world—has announced it’s 94th Annual Congress will return to the Georgia World Congress Center March 1-5, 2017, with registration opening November 1, 2016.
Each spring, optometrists and optometric professionals from around the globe gather to learn more about the latest research, innovations and techniques in the profession. Hundreds of hours of education sessions cover scientific and clinical advancements, key practice management issues and hands-on learning. More than 250 companies regularly display the newest products and services in the 70,000 square foot exhibit hall.
Earlier this year, SECO International received the prestigious Orion Award from the Armed Forces Optometric Society (AFOS). The honor recognizes an individual or organization for significant contributions to the advancement of AFOS and the profession of optometry.
“We’re excited to return to Atlanta next spring for what promises to be our most comprehensive meeting to date,” says Dr. Stan Dickerson, Immediate Past President of SECO International. “SECO International was humbled to be recognized by AFOS with the Orion Award; we’ve partnered with them for many years and feel duty-bound to provide its members with an exceptional continuing education experience.”
The award—unanimously voted on by the AFOS Executive Council—was presented to Dr. Dickerson during SECO’s 93rd Annual Meeting in February by Dr. Michael Davis, Commander for the United States Public Health Service. Dr. Davis has served as commander since 2009 and is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and executive council member of AFOS and member of the American Optometric Association.
“We appreciate the genuine friendship SECO has consistently offered to AFOS,” says Dr. Davis. “It’s a privilege to be associated with such a prestigious organization and we look forward to continuing our relationship into the future.”
In recent years, SECO International has co-located with the AFOS annual meeting, allowing AFOS members the opportunity to attend SECO and take advantage of additional education sessions, exhibit hall, social events and networking opportunities.
