Ophthalmic optics company Essilor International has recently joined the Business Call to Action (BCtA) with a pledge to create 40,000 primary eye care workers in underserved regions by 2020.
The announcement is reportedly part of Essilor's broadening of its inclusive business models to help improve health outcomes, productivity and wellbeing for more than 50 million low-income people in the next four years.
The BCtA is a global initiative that aims to support private-sector companies’ efforts to fight poverty through their core business. It is supported by several international organizations and hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
