The University of Alabama at Birmingham recently announced it was launching a dual Doctor of Optometry and Master of Business Administration degree — reportedly the first of its kind nationwide.
Offered through UAB's School of Optometry and Collat School of Business, the dual degree will reportedly provide students with a greater understanding of the business of eye care by offering optometry students courses in such topics as accounting and finance, economics, marketing, operations and supply chain management. UAB is currently accepting applications for the four-year degree program for the summer of 2017 for first-year optometry students, as well as current optometry students interested in matriculating into the new program.
