Here's a rundown of some of this week's eyewear-related news, featuring news from Tura, Sihouette and the American Optometric Association (AOA).

ImageEarlier this week, optical design house Tura Inc. announced it had added Brendel by Talbot Runhof to its line-up. The new collection features three optical models and three sunwear models. The collection is described as having a strong global appeal of wearable, fashionable designs with European flair.

According to the AOA, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) had published its 2015 revision of Standard Z80.3, Nonprescription Sunglasses and Fashion Eyewear, which applies to OTC eyewear typically used for cosmetic or recreational purposes. The AOA advises doctors use Standard Z80.3 to educate their patients on what to look for in a pair of nonprescription eyewear, such as ensuring sunglasses they purchase comply with the standard to give them proper eye protection.
