A digital slit lamp enhances the functionality of a basic, conventional optometric slit lamp. For optometric examination of the anterior and posterior eye structures, most digital slit lamps can be operated as a conventional instrument or enhanced through the use of digital camera and video integration; additional capabilities of camera/ video support documentation during patient examinations. Compact and easy to use, many digitized slit lamps also provide various orders of magnification ratios to choose from during an examination. Consideration when choosing digital slit lamp include magnifications, megapixel imaging, and digital/video camera compatibility.
