Here's a look at some of the latest news regarding the eyewear industry.

  • Wiley X®, Inc. was recently recognized as a Small Business of the Year for California's 16th Assembly District. The annual event recognizes key small business owners from across the state for their hard work, success and contribution to the state’s economy.
  • Safilo Group has relocated its North American headquarters to Secaucus, N.J. The new location, located about five miles from New York City, features an open space work environment, fully-stocked customer showroom, call center, workrooms, and meeting spaces.
  • Blackfin has opened its first single-brand showroom in Mexico City. The multipurpose venue is reportedly a showroom for Mexico's opticians to view the entire Blackfin range. Additionally, the space includes sales offices and a warehouse for product distribution throughout Mexico. (See press release below)
  • neubau eyewear has teamed up with The Honeybee Conservancy to encourage city dwellers to “bee” urban gardeners through their newly launched See & Do Good initiative. The Honeybee Conservancy will reportedly donate two hives to two thriving urban farms in New York City on behalf of neubau eyewear. (See press release below)
  • Visionworks launched a multi-faceted partnership with Viacom's Nickelodeon and TV Land brands on a nationwide program featuring characters from TV preschool series, PAW Patrol. Through September 3rd, children who have completed their annual eye exam will be offered a free gift. And the retailer is unveiling its first-ever kids' line of PAW Patrol frames designed and distributed by Nouveau Eyewear exclusively for back-to-school '17.
  • Loose Leaf Eyewear recently signed multi-year agreements with the kathy ireland® Brand, Level Brands' I'M1 and Kathleen Marie New York (KMNY) for eyewear for men, women and children.
  • Costa launched a new cause marketing campaign, “Don’t Fear the Fin. Fear a World Without Them.” to increase consumer awareness of shark conservation and their important role in our ocean’s ecosystem. Additionally, Costa has expanded its #KickPlastic campaign to help reduce the amount of plastic, including the opportunity for authorized Costa Optical dealers to host a #KickPlastic Trunk Show.  (See press release below)
