NSU Optometry Professor Receives AAO Award

Dr. Rachel A. “Stacey” Coulter, a professor at the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) College of Optometry, was recently named the recipient of the 2016 William Feinbloom Award by the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) for being a role model for individuals aspiring to combine research and clinical practice in their career goals.

Coulter — who is also chair of the school's Optometric Sciences Department — was reportedly honored for demonstrating the link between her clinical research expertise while raising the standards of routine clinical optometric practice. She has significant research experience in the areas of autism and vision, convergence insufficiency, preschool vision screening, and ocular motility and attention. And Coulter has presented scientific research on topics such as binocular vision and pediatric optometry.

The William Feinbloom Award is reportedly given annually to someone who has made a distinguished and significant contribution to clinical excellence and the direct clinical advancement of visual and optometric service, and thus the visual enhancement of the public.
