Alcon Foundation, AOF Challenges AAO Attendees to Help Raise Money for Pediatric Optometric Research

The Alcon Foundation and American Optometric Foundation (AOF) are teaming up to challenge attendees of this week's American Academy of Optometry (AAO) annual meeting to help them raise money for pediatric optometric research.

The Alcon Foundation is reportedly encouraging AAO attendees to download 2,020 copies of the e-book Howard and the Amazing Eye Exam from the Academy 2016 meeting app, which would result in a $25,000 donation to the AOF for pediatric optometric research.

The book is resource for parents to help prepare children for their first visit to the eye doctor. The Alcon Foundation hopes the challenge will remind ECPs about the importance of educating parents and caregivers about the need for comprehensive eye exams for children.

Additionally, during the AAO meeting the Alcon Foundation will host Howard the Hedgehog at its booth for picture opportunities. And attendees will have the opportunity to talk with the book's co-author, Dr. Catherine McDaniel, about why she wrote the book.
