UAB to Provide No-Cost Community Eye Exams Through Gift of Sight Program

This holiday season, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Optometry plans to provide complimentary eye care to patients in need through its Gift of Sight program.

UAB School of Optometry is reportedly partnering with Jefferson County Department of Health for this year's Community Eye Care program, which will provide comprehensive eye exams and glasses for low-income or underinsured patients from November 30th through December 3rd.

Established in 2013, the school's Gift of Sight program reportedly provides patients with complimentary eye care at the Western Health Clinic in Midfield, Alabama, and the UAB School of Optometry. Additionally, eyeglasses are provided to patients who need them through the generous support of the program's partners, including VSP, Remote Area Medical, Lions of Alabama and Allergan.
