  • With Children's Eye Health and Safety Month right around the corner, the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) has released a consumer-based release with four tips on how parents can ensure their kids' eyes are ready for the new school year.
  • Bausch + Lomb recently issued a business update from Senior Vice President & General Manager for U.S. Vision Care Mark McKenna. In the update, McKenna reported the company's continued commitment to work with the Coalition for Patient Vision Care Safety and the Company’s Unilateral Pricing Policy (UPP), updates on new patient-focused initiatives, and information on professional education resources such as a new video for B+L's PeroxiClear® solution.
  • Bionic vision system developer Pixium Vision has received a CE mark for its IRIS®II bionic vision system for people with low vision from outer retinal degeneration.
  • Research Now recently launched a new eye care panel that enables healthcare researchers to monitor health practices, treatments and sentiments of more than 450,000 deeply-profiled patients who suffer from the most common eye diseases or complications.
  • The Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute in San Francisco was recently named the recipient of a five-year NIH/NEI training grant for postdoctoral training in vision research. The training grant fellowship is reportedly open for research in any field of visual neuroscience, oculomotor control, and low-vision/blindness rehabilitation.
  • Vision Source was recently named a winner of the 29th annual CIO 100 Awards. Winners of the CIO 100 Awards honors showcase flexibility, commitment, and advancement.
  • Medical diagnostic device company Welch Allyn, Inc. was recently recognized by Frost & Sullivan with the 2016 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Leadership for diabetic retinopathy screening.
  • And Zeiss held its first-ever "Optics in the Digital World" symposium in Germany last week. The event brought together about 200 international scientists and industry experts to discuss current trends in optics and photonics. Zeiss reportedly plans to hold this symposium every two years.
