Prevent Blindness Launches Focus Initiative, Declares August Children's Eye Health Month

Earlier this month, Prevent Blindness announced the launch of The Focus Initiative and declared August as Children's Eye Health Month.

The Focus Initiative is a virtual forum on LinkedIn and professional network for those working in vision and public health, encouraging the sharing of resources such as vision research, grant opportunities, training materials, webinars and events. The first webinar of The Focus Initiative on the release of the upcoming consensus study "Public Health Approaches to Reduce Vision Impairment and Promote Eye Health" will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

And Prevent Blindness has declared August as Children's Eye Health and Safety Awareness Month in an effort to urge parents to take their children for a complete eye exam from an eyecare professional in preparation for the upcoming school year. To help your practice get ready for August, Prevent Blindness offers a variety of children's vision health fact sheets on their website.

Additionally, Prevent Blindness announced OCuSOFT® Inc. has agreed to donate 10 percent of all online sales to Prevent Blindness during August’s Children’s Eye Health and Safety Awareness Month to help support children's vision programs.
