The Frame Update — July 20, 2017

Every first and third Thursday of the month, we will take a look at the latest collections in the eyewear industry. Enjoy the read!

A&A Optical

A&A Optical recently announced the release of two new styles from Crocs™ Eyewear Junior Collection, which features the Crocs brand's signature spirit with the vibrant colors and comfort kids love. Combination boys style JR060 combines bold and bright colors with color blocked temples and inside coloring — the geometric metal frame with silicone rubber temples is available in three colors. And combination girls frame JR069 (pictured right) features a deep oval eye and comes in three bold combinations of complimentary and analogous colors.

Budri EyewearBudri Eyewear

For summer, Budri Eyewear recently released two new models with unusual color variations that recall sand and forest. The new Canova (pictured left) uses Serrancolin Versailles — a luxury marble quarried near the towns of Serrancolin, Ilhet and Beyrede-Jumet, high in the Pyrenees. The stone has a cream-light brown-grey background color and dramatic brick red, ochre yellow and olive-green veins, resembling the effects seen in French Impressionist paintings. And the new Palladio model recalls the typical luxuriant, bright green colors of tropical forests through the use of a marble obtained from the Udaipur quarry in India.

MarcolinMarcolin

Marcolin recently unveiled the newest sunglass styles from the Diesel Fall/Winter 2917 Eyewear collection, featuring new mens, womens and unisex styles. New sunwear style DL0228 is a markedly feminine, rounded, mask-style model featuring an acetate frame front with stark edges that soften towards the lower portion, while DL0232 (pictured right) is a feminine square frame with transparent coloring contrasting with metal portions of the temples and screws. DL0231 is a men's square acetate model with a flat frame front and three-dimensional effect within the frame, and DL0236 is a masculine frame inspired by the world of Cuba in its havana coloring. Unisex sunglass model DL0226 stands out for its thick volume and rounded shape, while a mix of acetate and metal characterizes the square, unisex frame DL0235. New style DL0233 is a rounded model featuring metal-injected mix with a cut-out frame front and thick edges, while rock’n’roll attitude lives on in the rounded shape of new sunwear style DL0239.

MorelMorel

New from Morel is Spak — the company's most recent Öga release. Spak, meaning "lever" in Swedish, uses a flex blade system that acts like a lever, allowing for the temple and frame front to come together for a unique mechanical combination. The hinge has no springs or solder points — the two umlauts add a signature touch to the frame. Spak is available either with a full stainless-steel front, or in a semi-rimless style with a stainless steel upper and nylon mount featuring dark, matte colors on the front. And the acetate temple tips add a touch of originality and finesse with a variety of different colors (solid or marbled) and finishes (matte or glossy).

And Morel also has two new releases for Nomad. Bristol (pictured left) takes inspiration from Pop Art movement artist, Roy Lichtenstein, mixing a fun color palette with clean designs embellished with colorful dots on the temples. Bristol is available in two combined acetate and two stainless steel semi-rimless models. And Vancouver features either acetate or stainless-steel frame fronts in discreet colors that are laser-milled to evoke the feel of wood grain. Fitted with slim, textured temples in pure lines, the frames are embellished with brushed effects.

Nouveau EyewearNouveau Eyewear

Nouveau Eyewear debuted three new styles in its Hot Kiss Eyewear collection for juniors and women, each defined by bold colors and rich textures inspired by Hot Kiss apparel. New style HK67 is available in satin black or satin blue in sizes 50 or 53, while HK70 (pictured right) is available in black or pink in size 51. And H71 is available in blue, burgundy or grey in size 52.

OKIAOKIA

OKIA recently introduced Stargazer (pictured left) — a new eyewear collection that will definitely appeal to astronomy aficionados. Drawing inspiration from the night sky, the new frames feature surprising astronomical details, such as a mix of globes, constellations and bright accents all over the temples, as well as glittering stars seen through the acetate for a 3D effect. And twinkling gold and silver foil enriches the decorations and heightening each frame's sophistication.

OWPOWP

OWP has new styles for OWP, Mexx and Metropolitan coming in August. New OWP styles include ladies styles 1757 and 1758 where elaborate hammering technique meets feather-light block titanium, and two new lightweight, HD-acetate womens styles 2170 and 2171 featuring fine metal temples with that offer a light decorative touch. Also new for OWP are mens styles 7503 and 8612 that offer cool masculinity in acetate and stainless steel.

New styles for Mexx Eyes include 2509 (pictured right) with its fashionable material mix of a noble acetate frame with metal bridge and temples; the super fine-rimmed Panto style 2711 made of metal with a trendy double bridge; and women's sunglass style 6348 featuring a retro shape in super stylish acetate. And there are also two brand new acetate Mexx Junior styles (5663 and 5664) for boys and girls available in four trendy color concepts.

And new for Metropolitan Eyewear, style 8040 is a true highlight for confident fashionistas with its reduced, cool and expressive cat-eye shape, while style 8251 is cat-eye 2.0 with a stylish blend of coolness and grace. Round lightweight style 8041 is a fine-rimmed, subtle and elegant frame with simple stainless-steel temples, and style 8254 is a statement piece with an acetate front in pilot form with an attached metal bridge.

New from Vuarnet is the Cable Car Round in a striking gradient blue and cognac acetate frame (pictured left) featured a double metal bridge detail and reinforced five-barrel hinges. This same gradient color treatment is carried through in the mineral glass lenses. This new introduction is a continuation of the Cable Car collection inspired by the iconic tram systems of legendary cities such as San Francisco, Lisbon, and Hong Kong.

Xavier GarciaXavier García Barcelona

New from Xavier García Barcelona is a collection of metal frames for Summer 2017 conceived as sculptures. Coco is a rounded retro style design constructed from a block of worked steel and combined with a color pigment on its outer layer, while Cornelia is a large angular frame with a pronounced retro style in sophisticated color combinations. Meet R 183 (pictured left) — the latest addition to Zimco Optics' Retro Collection. Featuring a double bridge, R 183 is constructed with the same standards as its predecessors and is made from TR90 allowing for flexibility, as well as endless color options. The Retro ‘R’ collection exhibits contemporary adaptations of vintage looks, and has been updated with striking colors, modern materials, and lightweight construction while featuring traditional shapes such as modernized versions of the classic rectangle, and cat-eye shapes.
