Olympic and Paralympic Swimmers Team Up to Help Swim for Sight

Two gold medalist swimmers have teamed up with Swim for Sight to help provide sight-restoring surgery for patients with a curable form of blindness.

U.S. Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin and U.S. Paralympic swimmer Brad Snyder have both pledged their support of the Swim for Sight program, which is spearheaded by Dr. Michael Feilmeier, medical director of the Global Blindness Prevention Division at the University of Nebraska Medical Center Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Since 2011, Dr. Feilmeier and his team have performed more than 3,000 life-changing surgeries and trained eye surgeons in Haiti, Ethiopia, India, Nepal, Ghana, and the Dominican Republic.

For every $25 donated to Swim for Sight, a patient living with a curable form of blindness will receive a free sight-restoring surgery with 100 percent of every dollar donated being used to cure blindness. People can donate online at Swim for Sight or text their donation to 27722.
