Arcturus Labs’ Magnifi 2 Adapts Phone Cameras to Optical Devices

Kansas-based Arcturus Labs is releasing the Magnifi 2 for iPhone 7 and 8 on February 1st. The Magnifi 2 connects the iPhone to practically any type of optical instrument that uses an eyepiece. Compatible with eyepieces ranging from 1-1.5 inches in diameter, the Magnifi aligns the iPhone's camera to the optical axis of the eyepiece, allowing for the capture of high quality images and videos quickly and consistently.

The Magnifi 2 attachment device, which comprises a phone case and adapter, features a low maintenance afocal design that eliminates a need for extra lenses. This design minimizes maintenance and allows acommodation of a wider range of devices.

This device improves on the original Magnifi, which uses a unique bayonet mount to connect the case and eyepiece adapter. No screws or clamps are necessary. The phone can be quickly detached without having to realign the adapter each time. For eyepieces of varying sizes, four custom molded silicone sizing bands are included to secure the adapter.
