B+L Unveils AMD Virtual Experience for ECPs

Bausch + Lomb unveiled its new Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Virtual Experience at the American Optometric Association's Optometry's Meeting last week, and plans to feature the technology at optometry and ophthalmology conferences later this year including those for the American Academy of Optometry and American Academy of Ophthalmology.

The virtual experience reportedly allows eye care professionals the chance to experience the daily challenges faced by patients with mild to more advanced stages of AMD.

According to B+L, while they have developed several initiatives to raise awareness about AMD, this is the first time they've created a platform that goes beyond traditional awareness and enables eye care professionals to see what life is like with the condition. The company reportedly hopes by showing practitioners their AMD patients' struggles first-hand, it will encourage them to be ever better stewards of care.
