The 95th annual meeting of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) in Anaheim, Calif. was reportedly the largest meeting in the organization's history with 7,720 total registrants, including 4,379 optometrists and vision scientists and 1,593 students.
During the meeting, AAO also announced Dr. Joseph P. Shovlin as the incoming president of the organization, as well as its 2017-2018 Board of Directors.
And AAO also inducted a record 267 new Fellows, and five individuals were awarded Diplomate status by sections of the association. Diplomates are Fellows of the Academy who wish to demonstrate their skill in a specific area.
